Demand of Free Papua Morning Star flag fluttering in Solo

SOLO, KOMPAS.com - Dozens of students from Papua who are members of the Papua Student Alliance (AMP) held a demonstration at the Roundabout Gladak, Solo, Monday (06/10/2013). They demanded freedom of Paradise on Earth.

One of the protesters, Frans Hisage, said the action was a form of solidarity among Papuan independence activists who demanded free themselves of the Republic of Indonesia (Republic of Indonesia). The action was inspired by a meeting of the Melanesian Spearhead Groups (MSG) Summit in mid-June in the city of Noumea, New Caledonia.

"One of the agenda of the meeting was to discuss the proposal West Papua National Coalition for Liberation, the West Papua propose a member of MSG," said Frans.

Speeches were held by demonstrators calling for the Government to immediately open the insistence of the democratic space and the right of self-determination for the people of Papua. "We support the MSG which is lobbying the United Nations to fight for the political independence of the people of Papua," said Frans.

In addition, the Morning Star flag was hoisted during the action. So are some of the protesters wear as a headband. Police officers look on guard tight against the rally.

Meanwhile, the protesters also spread leaflets containing their statement, which supports the position of clump Melanesian countries to make the members of West Papua Melanesian Spearhead Groups. They also urged Indoenesia to open the democratic space and give the right of self-determination as a democratic solution to the people of Papua.
